Mother's sister Aunt Rose with sister Anna at Lake Lenope.

Later in her life, after Barbara became a born-again Christian, Aunt Rose was led to saving faith in Christ by Barbara. I visited her just a few days before she died in Grand View Hospital, which I will never forget as she shared with me her feelings to me as a young boy and as I grew into manhood. We worked many years together with Dad at Industrial Safety Clothing, which Dad was co-owner of in Sellersville. We were on different floors, but I would see her every day.

The last family member from Mother’s family to live with us was Uncle Walter, who never lived with us on Hughes Avenue, but when we lived on Green Street. He also came to work for Dad because of lack of work in Philadelphia. We enjoyed him being with us. He also played Greenjackets football as a running back. Walter would go back and forth to Philadelphia on many weekends where he met his first wife and moved back to be with her and be married. He also fought in the Second World War, but fought against Japan and fought in the Philippines.

His marriage ended in divorce, but he remarried and had a son that he was so proud of. He died in his midsixties caused by a brain tumor. He, like all Mom’s siblings, loved our family, and we always enjoyed seeing each other, which if they didn’t live with us only saw each other several times a year. Upon his death, his ashes were spread in the ocean at Wildwood, New Jersey, where they owned a mobile home and spent their free time there. He was Roman Catholic.
